CD Projekt CEO has apparently confirmed that the upcoming DLC of Cyberpunk 2077 will be the only one. Speaking at a financial Q&A session earlier this week, CD Projekt CEO Adam Kiciński was questioned about future projects using the internal Red Engine, after it was revealed that The Witcher 4 he would have abandoned it in favor of Unreal Engine 5. The Cyberpunk expansion is the latest project based on the Red Engine, ”said Kiciński. “Any other product will be on Unreal.
This is apparently confirmation that the upcoming DLC of Cyberpunk 2077 will be the only one and the game will not receive any other additional content. The Witcher 3 received two expansions – Hearts of Stone And Blood and Wine – in the years following its launch.
This might come as a surprise for a long time as the staff of CD Projekt had previously used the plural “expansions” when referring to future DLCs from Cyberpunk 2077. A UI coordinator had referred to more expansions before the game launches in 2019while mission director Pawel Sasko had referred to multiple expansions recently in April.
CD Projekt has formally announced the expansion at the end of last year in 2021. Since then, we have received periodic updates on the development progress of the aforementioned DLC. CD Projekt reassured fans that he was still working on the expansion earlier this year in March
Earlier this week, Kiciński revealed that while there is still a group of developers working hard to improve Cyberpunk 2077 in order to eliminate its bugsthe vast majority of the team is working on the DLC.
Of course, as you know, the team’s next big project is The Witcher 4, which recently went into pre-production. It is likely that CD Projekt will focus on the new chapter of The Witcher after the development of the expansion Cyberpunk 2077 will have come to an end.
