the remake will be completely open world, reveals CD Projekt Red

The Witcher Remake will be completely open world, CD Projekt Red reported during its Q3 2022 financial results. The news caused a stir as the original game, dated 2007, was not Open World at all. The remake was announced at the end of October 2022, a real surprise. With the new statements we find that, without prejudice to the RPG and Story Driven components, The Witcher Remake will, in fact, be Open World.

Previously, the same Polish company had only claimed to be working on a new modern game inspired by the original, developed in Unreal Engine 5 by the Project Canis Majorisma team. Studio head Adam Badowski said at the time: “The Witcher is where it all started for us, for CD Projekt Red. It was the first game we made, and it was a big moment for us back then. Coming back to this place and remaking the game for the next generation of gamers to try it looks just as great, if not bigger“.

Now CD Projekt Red has not written anything else about it. The point already clarified in October is reiterated, namely that it will take some time before the game is ready.

Meanwhile, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Complete Edition will be released on December 14, 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and PC.
