In this case, it is neither about the budget, nor about the weight, but about the size. The new gaming laptop from Alienware is as thin as any hardware in this category.
Alienware x14 – slim and strong
Though taking into account all categories of mobile computers, the thickness of the new gaming laptop from Alienware does not make an impression, it has no equal in its segment. All equipment is 1.44 cm thick. For comparison: different, 15-inch model of this manufacturer is in the thinnest place 1.92 cm thick, and the average value for most gaming laptops is ~ 2.5 cm. This is impressive, although there are a few “buts”.
The first problem with such a “lean” gaming laptop would be the distribution of heat. The manufacturer is aware of this, which is why alienware x14 can be purchased with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 graphics card equipped with an Alienware Element 31 thermal interface and cooling via a steam chamber. In addition, the equipment has received an intelligent fan management system, thanks to which the system sensors independently control each fan in the housing.
Another thing that the Alienware brand had to take up is the short battery life of small and loaded laptops. Most of the hardware in this category is equipped with an additional, powerful graphics card and uses it all the time, even when the basic functions are running Windows, while consuming a lot of energy.
Alienware x14 is the first 14-inch laptop equipped with Advanced Optimus technology from NVIDIA, thanks to which the system decides for itself which graphics card it uses and in what situation. The effect of this technology is a longer battery life of the device.
Of course, in the case of gaming equipment, we can not forget about the basic parameters. The compact Alienware x14 project includes new 12th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 processors, as well as NVIDIA’s 30xx series graphics cards – GeForce 3050 RTX combined with 16 GB of RAM clocked at 4800 MHz and the aforementioned GeForce 3060 RTX, where we can choose from memory with a capacity of 16 GB or 32 GB and a clock speed of 5200 MHz. 2TB of expandable NVMe storage and, most importantly in gaming hardware, an RGB-backlit keyboard.
Unfortunately, communing with this little monster will not be so easy. First of all, the equipment is currently available for pre-order in the United States – it is not known when it will officially hit the European market. Secondly, the prices of this model start from 1649 dollars (equivalent to ~ 6500 zlotys) and end at 2200 dollars (~ 8750 zlotys). In these dimensions, it is not a small amount, although we all know that Alienware is not a budget equipment for players.
