Berserk is one of the most successful manga, progenitor of Dark Fantasy, born from the genius of Kentaro Miura who unfortunately left us in May 2021, leaving his work unfinished. About a year after the death of master Miura, Studio Gaga (founded by Miura himself) and the mangaka Koji Mori have decided to take up the legacy, and ferry the manga to its conclusionputting together the drafts and the information that Miura had confided to his friend and his assistants, promising to give the public the most faithful continuation and conclusion exactly as the late Miura had thought it.
There have been several initiatives to celebrate the late author and his work that was able to lay the foundations for a genre. Between the memorial edition and new editions of the manga, the Berserk Deluxe Edition, which debuted in November in Italy, edited by Panini Comics. This edition is inspired by a Dark Horse counterpart.
Just a few weeks later, Panini had announced that it would also market, in a limited edition of 216 copies, a variant version of the first volume of the Berserk Deluxe Edition, characterized by a red cover and the Bejelit on the cover, at the price of 200 euros.
Today, 29 November 2022, Panini officially opened the sale of this edition on its website, with a dedicated link and with the possibility for each customer to be able to purchase a maximum of two copies. Within 20 minutes the coveted limited edition sold out completely.
What unfortunately creates displeasure is how this edition of the Berserk manga was also a source of attention for the toutsexactly as happened in recent years for every highly requested object, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, latest generation video cards, collector’s editions of various games and much more. It is possible to find advertisements on the major e-commerce sites, such as Ebay, at truly crazy figures, which exceed one thousand euros and reach two thousand euros (as you can see in the photo below).
An absurd situation, which could probably end up making some enthusiasts willing to do anything to have the much coveted number 1 of the limited edition of Berserk Deluxe run into this crazy expense.
And what do you think of the Panini Comics operation and the tinkering around this new collector’s item? Let us know, as always, in the comments.
