Summer Game Fest 2023 features a handful of “really big” announcements

While everyone is excited about Sony’s PlayStation Showcase this week, June’s Summer Game Fest doesn’t seem to be getting any less interesting. There is already talk of big announcements.

The opening show of the Summer Game Fest will take place on June 08, 2023. As usual, Geoff Keighley will present the latest news from the YouTube Theater in Hollywood Park. There is a small preview of it today in an interview with Epic Gameswhere one of “really big“ Announcements speaks.

In it, the show host said that a small selection of games can always make a big difference, with the line-up remaining unpredictable until the last few minutes.

“As I always say with these shows, a game or two makes all the difference. It’s a challenge as a producer because sometimes you have these games, sometimes you don’t, sometimes you think you have them and they drop out or change.”

A handful of real highlights

For now, Keighley said they’ve prepared a handful of announcements that are going to be really big. In figures one speaks of three to four games. The interview adds:

“While Keighley is always cautious about his assessments of the show, he said there are three or four things that are going to be “pretty big for this audience” right now.”

Another new feature this year is that this time there will be a live audience on site, as well as developers on stage to talk about some of the games on the show. That’s exactly what you want from the Sony shows, which were recently purely digital and pre-recorded and took place without an audience.

“I think the Summer Game Fest is a chance to talk to the developers, showcase games, and provide some more context around the games. We don’t give awards on the show. It’s really just a kind of showcase for games.”

The start of the Summer Game Fest will take place on June 08, 2023 at 9 p.m and can also be followed here with us.
