Starship Troopers Extermination: cooperative shooter with squads

Offworld Industries, the Canadian studio responsible for the Tactical FPS Squad, has announced the development of Starship Troopers: Extermination, a shooter cooperative that will debut through early access on Steam in 2023. As the name of the title indicates, we are facing a game based on the Starship Troopers film saga, whose first installment hit theaters 25 years ago. Recently a rumor appeared which talked about a more faithful reboot to the Robert A. Heinlein novel on which the tapes are based.

Starship Troopers: Extermination is a shooter cooperative based on 12-member squads that is inspired by the 1997 film. The title will put players in the shoes of a soldier integrated into the Deep Space Vanguard, an elite special forces group within the Mobile Infantry that fights against the arachnid threat. Specifically, the action will take place in Valaka, a hostile planet where he will have to fight against hordes of insectoid aliens. To deal with the bugs, players will have an arsenal of all kinds of weapons, including Morita, the standard assault rifle.

As in any cooperative game, the players of Starship Troopers: Extermination must work as a team to meet the objectives, obtain resources, build and defend the base of operations and, in the end, make it to the extraction point alive to escape together from only one piece. The title will offer different characters that are divided into three classes (assault, support and defense), a class progression system and a ping system to easily and quickly point out points of interest and threats.

When available in Steam Early Access, Starship Troopers: Extermination will offer a large map divided into five zones and five different enemy types (Drone, Warrior, Gunner, Plasma Grenadier, and Tiger Elite). Offworld Industries expects the game to remain in development and under Early Access protection for one year, during which time the content offering will expand.
