Games Industry revealed that according to data shared by GfK the sales of physical games during the week of Black Friday have decreased by 15% compared to the same period of the previous year. And this is a trend that has been going on for several years now, given that last year’s sales of bf have decreased by 10% compared to the previous year.
However, keep in mind that this data does not include the digital sales occurred during the week of Black Friday. It also does not include console sales figures, with these to be made available later again by GfK.
That said, the best-selling physical game of the week was fifa 23with an increase in sales of 95%also benefiting from the start of the World Cup. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 returned to the second position, with sales increasing by 9% despite not receiving a significant discount.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have dropped down the charts this week, with Violet who dropped to third place while Scarlatto dropped to sixth place. Both games saw sales declines by 64% on a weekly basis, a reasonable number for a stock Pokémon. Games Pokémon last year they are down by about 58% in their second week (the remakes of Diamond and Pearl), while instead Pokémon legends: Arceusreleased in January of this year, fell by 72%.
Instead Mario Kart 8: Deluxe ranked fifth after an increase in sales of 226%with also Sonic Frontiers which he enjoyed Black Friday given a price reduction of 30 Euros.
