On Wednesday, the new Netflix original series, centered on the Addams Family character of the same name, is the new leader of the Top 10 most watched content on the platform. The record held so far by the fourth season of Stranger Things has also been broken.
Wednesday, a series by Miles Millar and Alfred Gough, largely directed by Tim Burton, has established itself in the Netflix ranking with the beauty of 341.23 million hours viewed during the first week of publication aloneprecisely beating the record of Stranger Things 4, which had totaled a total amount of 335 million hours in its first week of release.
For an English-language series this is an all-time record. In fact, the world record remains Squid Game which currently holds a record of 571.8 million hours viewed in the first week of release, its peak. The series debuted in 93 countries, taking first place in 83 of them and still placing in the top 10 in all others.
Wednesday also allowed the talented Jeanna Ortega to be discovered by the general public, in her splendid interpretation of the eldest daughter of Gomez and Morticia, played respectively by Luiz Guzman and Catherine Zeta-Jones. In the cast, there is also Cristina Ricci, the interpreter of Wednesday in the two iconic Addams Family films of the 90s.
The series not only takes up the dark humor tones that have always characterized the films and TV series on the Addams Family, but also adds the hues of an investigative series, which will see the young protagonist having to solve some mysteries that revolve around her family.
