An oversight like others that happened in the past that happened behind the scenes of the PlayStation Store. Tekken 2historic fighting game produced by Namco it was priced at $ 9,999. The news went around the web until it came under the eyes of Katsuhiro Harada, who has always been linked to the series of which he became director starting from the third chapter. Harada, in a twitter post comments: “What a wonderful price, Sony”. The problem was then promptly corrected.
Tekken 2, released in 1996, represents, together with the subsequent Tekken 3, one of the cornerstones of the fighting game genre for the first PlayStation generation. Over the years the series has landed on all incarnations of Sony consoles. The following chapters, then, also reached the other platforms. However, there is an inevitable version of the various titles: the arcade arcade one.
The latest game in the series, Tekken 7, arrived 5 years ago. For the moment, there does not seem to be any news from Bandai Namco of the intention to produce a new chapter. Publishers, for now, seem more focused on FromSoftware products as Elden Ring was released earlier this year. Harada, in 2019, compared to the series, said he was tired of always having to pay too much attention to the contents offered in the game.
The episode involving Tekken 2 on PlayStation Store (where it has been available since 2010) is not the first of its kind. Sony occasionally has these oversights. At the beginning of 2022 the case of Horizon Forbidden West caused a lot of hype (game developed by Guerrilla Games) proposed in two identical versions but at two different prices. The episode risked unleashing a class-action against Sony.
What do you think? Maybe a little excessive in terms of price, right? At the moment Netflix is engaged in the production of an anime series inspired by the brand. Tekken Bloodline.
