NPD data shows that the most played games in the US in the first quarter of 2022 are almost all of long standing

Most played games in the US are almost all old, despite the latest releases on the market

Analyst Mat Piscatella returns to publish new data, after those who claimed Nintendo Switch tops sales in the United States. On this occasion, the analyst of NPD has disclosed a list of ten most played games in the US in the first quarter of 2022.

The most interesting thing is certainly the fact that most of the games on this list are not games released this year at all, but indeed we also find games released more than ten years agoas in the case of Minecraft.

NPD shows data on the most played games in the US in the first three months of 2022

The list disclosed by Mat Piscatella is the following:

  1. Minecraft – 2009
  2. Grand Theft Auto V – 2013
  3. The Sims 4 – 2014
  4. Fortnite – 2017
  5. Among Us – 2018
  6. Animal Crossing: New Horizon – 2020
  7. Call of Duty: Warzone – 2020
  8. Call of Duty: Vanguard – 2021
  9. NBA 2K22 – 2021

Minecraftdespite its well thirteen yearsis still at the top of the most played games in the US, followed by GTAV, The Sims 4, Fortnite And Among Us which however are starting to be quite dated. Even the games from the sixth position down are not games that have seen the light this year and in any case concern games that are part of historical series and that have been going on for some time.

This ranking shows how the players are actually a lot conservatives in the tastes and games they choose to play, opting for games that belong to sagas that have existed on the market for decades. Undoubtedly very important is also the fact that games live service they can hold their own for a long time if handled properly.

The other side of the coin is certainly not positive for all the new games that fail to establish themselves properly in the market; in fact, most users are looking for more or less of the same experiences and is little inclined to novelty.
