Mortal Kombat I – FAQ provides reference to the new combat system

Mortal Kombat 1 was officially announced today, jumping back in the timeline and delivering a brand new story. There is also talk of a new combat system, which the first cinematic trailer unfortunately doesn’t show that much of.

You get a little smarter with the official FAQwhich at least provides indications of what is new in Mortal Kombat 1 arrives in September. who the Mortal Kombatseries knows, but this should also seem familiar.

Because that used to be the case, where in-house Mortal Kombat-Characters jumped into the picture and landed more or less practical tag team moves.

Cameo fighters return

We are specifically talking about cameo fighters, which according to Netherrealm form a unique roster and provide you with support in the fights. In the description it reads as follows:

“Kameo Fighters are a unique roster of partner characters that provide support during fights and give players expanded gameplay options. These characters are selected separately from the main roster of fighters.”

Instead of offering fully playable characters with their own story, like recently the Joker or Rambo, the cameo appearances will probably play minor roles, possibly also to fit better into the new story.

Mortal Kombat 1 with brand new story

A total of five of these Kameo Fighters will follow after the release of the game, with various cross-over franchises probably being used here. We were already talking about Conan the Barbarian, the Peacemaker DC or Homelander from the comic theboys. It should indeed be interesting to see how this is implemented in the end.

The basic combat system of Mortal Kombat 1 should hardly change, however, which the Netherrealm Studios have refined over the years. The twist with the cameo appearances might just be the next level in it.

Other than that, we don’t reveal too much about it Mortal Kombat I. It relies on the tried and tested rollback netcode for online gameplay, which is worth mentioning. The first real gameplay could possibly be seen at the upcoming PlayStation Showcase, since you also recently used a PlayStation event to create a new one Mortal Kombat to introduce.

The pre-orders too Mortal Kombat I start tomorrow Friday, including a lavish Kollectors Edition. The release itself is scheduled for September 19th, with a beta test in August.
