Surprise announcement from Leonardo Interactive. Simon the Sorcerer will return in 2023. The next game in the series will be developed by Smallthing Studios, a 100% Italian development house. The game will be called Simon the Sorcerer Origins. It will be a prequel to the very first chapter of the series released in 1993.
Simon the Sorcerer Origins is set a few weeks before the events narrated in the original game. In this game, Chippy, the protagonist’s dog, inadvertently opens a portal to another dimension after browsing through a magic manual. It will be Simon’s job to fix the mess. But to get a better idea of what the game will be like, Leonardo Interactive has also released a trailer which we propose again later. Let us know what you think.
Leonardo Caltagirone, head of Leonardo Interactive, also granted a statement regarding this new project. “For us it has always been a desire to be able to revive one of the icons of this industry. Our goal is to create a new world thanks to modern graphics and new gameplay mechanics to tell the origins of Simon “ Caltagirone said.
Simon the Sorcerer Origins will arrive, as mentioned, in 2023. The title will arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and Nintendo Switch. All versions will be digital only. The upcoming game represents the sixth iteration of the series born from the inventiveness of Adventure Soft on Amiga and MS-DOS. Each chapter was characterized by a lot of irony and quotations.
Leonardo Interactive is the publisher of another Italian project: Daymare 1998, horror inspired by Resident Evil.
