How to connect a fitness bracelet or smartwatch to your Android phone.

A fitness bracelet is one of the most popular gadgets, bought by millions of people around the world. Its popularity is due to its modest price and access to useful health monitoring features. If you’ve recently purchased a wearable accessory, you’ll need to figure out how to connect your fitness tracker to your Android phone. Here’s why you need to do this and what you’ll need to set up sync.

Why connect the bracelet to the phone

Although smart bracelets are self-contained devices, they still need to be connected to your mobile phone. This is done for two reasons. First of all, the wearable accessory cannot be set up without being paired with the phone. This is valid both for the first adjustment and for subsequent adjustments.

Second, some features of the gadget are only available when connected to a mobile phone. Without synchronization, you will not see weather information on the screen of the smart band and you will not be able to receive notifications of incoming text messages or calls. In short, you can’t do without the connection with your phone, and you have to figure out how to pair the two devices.

What software do you need to use?

Unlike other peripheral gadgets, be it wireless headphones or Bluetooth speakers, smart watches and bracelets only connect to mobile phones through specific applications. This restriction is due to the security of the data received by the wearable accessory. In this sense, it is necessary to choose a suitable software for later use with the Bluetooth device:

  • My Fit;
  • JET Sports;
  • Huawei Wear;
  • Amazon watch.

The choice of the application depends directly on the smartwatch you use. For example, if you use the Xiaomi Mi Band, you will have to install Mi Fit. If you use a Huawei Band, you will need the Huawei Wear or Huawei Health utility.

As a side note. The name of the application required for connection is indicated on the bracelet box or in the instructions. There may also be a QR code on the packaging to download the software.

How to connect the bracelet to Android

Now let’s talk about how to link a smart bracelet to your phone and do some additional settings. The operation is performed in several steps, each of which is key. Therefore, carefully study all the suggested steps.

Start of the bracelet

To connect the bracelet to the phone, both devices must be turned on. Therefore, the first step is to start the clothing accessory. To do this, simply press the button located on the smart bracelet and wait for its screen to light up. If this does not happen, try charging the gadget. Any bracelet tends to run out of energy, and it is not certain that it will reach you 100% charged.

Installation of the application

Next, you need to install the application, without which you will not be able to configure the bracelet. It is suggested to carry out the operation through the Play Market:

  • Launch the app store.
  • Sign in if you haven’t done so before.
  • Find the walker that interests you.
  • After going to the application page, click on the “Install” button.

Play Market is not the only app store you can use. On some Huawei and Honor mobile phones, for example, the App Gallery is used as the standard store. If you can’t find the software, install it manually:

  • Download the APK file of the application, which you can find on the manufacturer’s website or on the theme’s site.
  • Open the APK.
  • Allow installation from unknown sources.
  • Complete the installation process by clicking the “Install” button.

If you do it correctly, you will see the app icon on your desktop in a couple of seconds. But before you can run it, you’ll need to turn on Bluetooth. It is the one that will be used for the connection.

Activate Bluetooth

The easiest way to activate this wireless sensor is through the notification bar (control center).

You will have to lower the curtain by sliding your finger and then tap on the “B” icon. If you can’t find the icon, follow the alternative instructions:

  • Open the phone settings.
  • Go to “Bluetooth”.
  • Press the “Connect” button.

It is not necessary to activate the wireless interface on the bracelet, since it works by default on it. You can then move on to the actual connection setup process.

Connection setup

Therefore, to pair the two devices, you need to follow the steps above. Subsequent steps are performed through the previously installed application. Let’s take a look at the setup process through the Mi Fit utility:

  • Start the app.
  • Issue the necessary permissions.
  • Create an account.
  • Go to the personal profile section.
  • Click on “Add device” and then on “Wristband”.
  • Place a smart bracelet near your phone.
  • Please confirm the connection at the time the mobile phone detects the portable accessory.

In other applications, the operation is similar, but the names of the menu items may be different. Also note that when you connect for the first time, the latest firmware is installed on the bracelet, so we recommend that you activate the Internet on your mobile phone beforehand.

back adjustment

Once connected, the smart bracelet can be used to its full extent, but it does not hurt to configure additional functions. Depending on the characteristics of the device, these are:

  • screen unlock;
  • bracelet location;
  • warning;
  • heart rate monitoring;
  • tag parameters;
  • dial.

The exact list of options depends on the features of the smart bracelet. To access them, you have to launch the brand’s app and go to the settings section of the wearable accessory.

Posible problems

You may have difficulty connecting the accessory for the first time and later. In this case, you must first activate Bluetooth. You should also check the charge of the smart bracelet. If the accessory connects but then loses the connection, it is a good idea to check that there are no restrictions set for the application you are using. You can do it through the settings of your mobile phone.
