Helldivers 2: Shooter sequel is official and changes perspective

Yesterday was a good evening for shooter fans, because several genre representatives were presented as part of the PlayStation Showcase. This includes the sci-fi shooter sequel Helldivers 2.

In 2015, Arrowhead Game Studios released Helldivers, a top-down shooter – and Helldivers 2 is now getting a sequel. The developer unveiled the sequel to the sci-fi shooter at yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase, bringing back the vibes of cult classics like Starship Troopers once again.

While keeping this layout, there is one fundamental and important change in the new part. The top-down perspective is completely dropped and now replaced by a third-person perspective. From there it is necessary to protect the super-earth on which the normal citizens live and, moreover, to take on all kinds of insect-like aliens in the galaxy – just like the bugs from Starship Troopers.

In the future, you can play in co-op with up to three other players who have to defeat wave after wave of opponents together. According to Arrowhead Game Studios, the game will offer adrenaline-pumping and fast-paced arcade-style action, with co-op collaboration essential to survival.

The release of Helldivers 2 is planned for 2023 on PC and PlayStation 5, but there is no concrete release date for the moment. But you can have a look at the first atmospheric trailer below.
