first details on the gameplay! It will be Cross-Gen

After many waits, the developers of Striking Distance Studios have finally revealed the first details on the gameplay of The Callisto Protocol. For those unfamiliar with it, the game was presented as the heir, indeed, the spiritual sequel to Dead Space. Not for nothing, the development team is made up of former members of Visceral Games, including founder Glen A. Schofield, who was Game Director of the Dead Space saga. And, given the new information, this new IP appears to deliver on its naming as a spiritual sequel.

Thanks to the new issue of GameInformer, in fact, we learn that The Callisto Protocol will be Cross-Gen. This means that the title will also arrive on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The developers, therefore, do not want to exclude anyone from the past generation of consoles. Furthermore, the game’s release is still set for 2022, although it does not specify a precise date. In the new issue there are also new images of the title, which you can find at the end of the article.

As for the gameplay, here come details that will appeal to those who loved Dead Space. The Callisto Protocol, in fact, will have a combat system similar to that seen in the Visceral Games saga. The game will be in the third person, and players will take control of the protagonist named Jacob Leeplayed by Josh Duhamel, an actor who appeared, among others, in Michael Bay’s Transforsmers saga.

The setting will be that of Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons. Here, humans have been infected with a virus capable of transforming them into monsters called Biophages. Here, too, as in Dead Space, the enemies can be dismembered. Their bindings will then change based on the limb they lose. As for the player, on our side we will have an attack capable of exploiting gravity. This is called GRP, and will allow you to move enemies and objects.

In short, for the moment the conditions are all there. We just have to wait for a definitive release date. We might know something maybe during the Summer Game Fest. We also remind you of the release of Dead Space Remake. To find out more, we refer you to our article.
