Final Fantasy 16 – Epic Launch Trailer released

Final Fantasy 16 will be released on June 22nd exclusively for the PS5. The new offshoot of the legendary JRPG series relies on a high-fantasy scenario and thus turns away from the last, more futuristic parts. The final launch trailer was released last night on the PlayStation Showcase, bursting with epic scenes and top-notch graphics.

Final Fantasy 16 in the launch trailer

Final Fantasy 16 is being developed by the same team that previously created the hit MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 Online. This is popular mainly because of the epic and twisted story and the expectations for the new main part are correspondingly high. For the first time in the history of the series, this offers a real-time combat system that is vaguely reminiscent of Devil May Cry without copying its complexity.

There is no open world, but linear levels alternate with more spacious regions. The title is set in the world of Valisthea, where mother crystals magically bloom the environment and grant individuals special powers. Darkness and waste are spreading, however, and it’s up to protagonist Clive Rosfield to uncover what’s causing the decay and stop it.

Espers also play an important role, powerful beings who are summoned by the chosen ones and can decide a battle single-handedly. During the course of the game there is always the opportunity to control these giants yourself and thus carry out massive battles in the style of Godzilla.

In addition to the emotional story and the fast-paced gameplay, the technology is definitely a highlight of Final Fantasy 16. The game looks absolutely stunning and could rise to the most beautiful PS5 titles. Character models and environments appear plastic and rich in detail. Light and shadow effects are also at a very high level and will make every OLED owner happy.

Final Fantasy 16 will be released on June 22nd. Before that there should be a demo where you can try out the JRPG. You can see the launch trailer here:
