Disappeared Vangelis, composer of the soundtrack of Blade Runner

We unfortunately have to report the sad news of the disappearance of Vangelispseudonym of the Greek multi-instrumentalist and composer Evángelos Odysséas Papathanassíou, who died last May 17 at the age of 79.
Vangelis became famous for composing the soundtrack for Moments of Glory, which even earned him the Academy Award for Best Original Soundtrack. He later collaborated with Ridley Scott to compose what is probably his most famous soundtrack: that of Blade Runner.
Over the years his name has also been associated with other famous films of which he signed the soundtracks: we mention Missing – Disappeared, 1492 – The conquest of paradise, Alexander.
Curiously, Vangelis also indirectly dealt with a video game: Blade Runner for Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum and Amstrad CPC. The game was not officially based on the film since the publisher CRL Group did not manage to grab the rights of the film, but on the soundtrack composed by Vangelis as specified on the cover; a piece of the soundtrack – the final theme of the film – is still present in the video game.
