Cyberpunk 2077 on Xbox Game Pass? The picture is an old fake

Cyberpunk 2077 in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate catalog? An old rumor dating back to last year is back in circulation and which, until now, was only supported by fake screenshots. It all starts on Reddit. In sub r/XboxOne, the SafeInvestigator user posted a photo (found at the bottom) taken on a screen. The display shows what at first glance looks like a screenshot of the Cyberpunk 2077 page on the Xbox store. The captured screen has been suitably modified to highlight the wording “Game Pass Ultimate”. The rest of the page, written in Cyrillic, suggests that the original shot was taken in Eastern Europe.

It didn’t take long for users of the red social network to discover the deception. Almost immediately, the thread was filled with comments denouncing the fake, adding links to other posts – much older – and containing the same image to support their statements. A piece of news – that of the arrival of Cyberpunk 2077 on Game Pass – which it has never enjoyed either official or evidence to support the rumors on which it was based. The thread was subsequently closed and users prevented from leaving up or downvotes and further comments.

To be precise, the rumors of a possible arrival in the catalog date back to summer 2020, several months before the release. The trigger was a tweet – a provocation – by Jeff Grubb. The Venture Beat journalist, knowingly or not, ‘forced’ Radek Grabowski (PR of CD Projekt RED) to come out and respond. The PR stated, without the possibility of misunderstanding, that there were no plans for a release on Game Pass. Although almost three years have passed unlikely that the Polish team could have changed their mind.

Suffice it to say that almost 8 years after its release, The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt has never made its debut in the subscription service. Furthermore, it should be remembered that, still in September 2022, during the consultations with stakeholders and shareholders, the leaders of CD Projekt RED clearly stated of don’t have in mind the release on the Microsoft Pass or the Sony Plus.
