CD Projekt RED ‘thanks to Unreal Engine 5 we will make great progress’

The very first information regarding the next The Witcher game begins to arrive. CD Projekt RED confirmed that she is back to work on the IP based on the novels by Andrzej Sapkwoski for several weeks now. The first clarification, immediate for fans of the series – necessary for the less accustomed – is that it would not be a The Witcher 4 but the beginning of a whole new saga.

Now, following the latest chat with investors, CD Projekt RED has posted some statements by Piotr Nielubowicz, CFO of the company. The manager hinted that, at the time of the announcement – and still, by the way – the works are still in the pre-production phase. The actual development, therefore, has not yet begun. Nielubowicz does not doubt that however, this time, everything can unfold more quickly. Speaking to investors – and to the public through the video on twitter – the executive praises Unreal Engine 5. The graphic engine developed by Epic Games has been chosen as the main tool for the realization of this new The Witcher. According to Nielubowicz, UE5 will allow the team to work quickly and easily.

The works, the possible plot and much more have been discussed for a long time before the actual announcement. The main character of the story seems to be the subject of discussion. At first there were many who bet on a Ciri who would pick up Geralt’s baton but, now, with the first tweet – which portrays a medallion from the Lynx school – the first doubts about it begin to arise. Both Geralt and Ciri, in fact, belong to the school of the Wolf. The girl also has some ties to the Cat school. The Lynx, up to this point, has only appeared in fan-produced material.
