bad news for those who bought it at a discounted price

An email published online on the new PlayStation Plus confirms some reports that have already been released: those who purchased the service at a discounted price may have to return the money to upgrade to PlayStation Plus Extra or Premium.

The revamp of the PlayStation Plus has recently come out in Asa and very soon it will also arrive in the rest of the world. In fact, it is now possible to find out which titles await you with the new Sony PlayStation service. But there is bad news: it seems that some Asian players who have preferred to subscribe to the PlayStation Plus at a discounted price, now they will have to pay backif they want to upgrade to a different tier of service.

All of this seems to be confirmed by an email that arrives from Hong Kong’s PlayStation support and published on ResetEra in which it is possible to read:

Thank you for contacting PlayStation Support and checking the price of your PlayStation PLus membership. Since you bought the PlayStation Plus at a discounted price, there are some members who cannot take advantage of this discount:

  1. Who bought with a discount
  2. Anyone who bought with a redeemed code

So if you want to upgrade to PlayStation Plus Premium Level 2 or 3 you will have to pay the difference and the normal price.

All this will be an automatic system that calculates the difference that you will have to pay back to perform the upgrade. Of course it is also possible to go down tier, the choice is yours. This move by PlayStation it doesn’t seem very correct, for many players, who complained in the ResetEra thread and are now “stuck” in the tier they have without being able to improve their membership, as it would mean paying more. Videogame Chronicles, who translated the email, tried to contact PlayStation, but for the moment there are no comments from the upper floors of the company.
