Aftermath arrives on next-gen in January 2023

World War Z: Aftermath will be officially released on next-gen consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series) together with the free “Horde Mode XL” update on January 24, 2023. This was announced directly by the publisher and developer Saber Interactive.

World War Z: Aftermath returns with new content

Let’s start by saying that users who own the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One version of World War Z: Aftermath will be able to upgrade to the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series version for free. The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions, the developers say, will work in resolution 4K at 60 frames per second.

The mode “Horde Mode XLwill be available exclusively on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and PC and will follow the same rules as the game’s standard “Horde Mode”, but in between the normal waves of enemies there will be a special “XL” wave that features over 1,000 zombies.

All versions of the game will also receive a free update on January 24, 2023 which introduces “mutators” to the standard game mode “Horde Mode Z”, along with new weapons and a revamped and improved weapon progression system.

Recall that World War Z: Aftermath is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. The basic version, however, simply called World War Z is also available for Nintendo Switch and you can find our review here.
